Feeling hungry? Don't worry, it’ll be lunchtime soon!

The SCOBY: a symbiosis of making and growing in living packages production is a circular process inspired by vegetable cultivation. The starting point was the comparison of the farmer’s cultivation work to mass-production. The farmer became an engineer and the farm a factory. And if we look at this combination of nature and engineering differently and we will make mass-produced things grow? Who in this scenario will be a farmer and who will be a designer?

The designer or the producer of growing things has the characteristics of a farmer. In the future, we will find a farmer not only in the villages but also in city centers, laboratories, industrial factories, basements or on Mars. Perhaps we will all have to take on the role of farmers, cultivate in urban gardens or in our own kitchens

Polish Trash by Malgorzata Gorska-Ogorek

Małgorzata Górska-Ogórek has created a collection called “Personal Belongings”, which consists of a selection of soft patterned shapes resembling children’s toys. They are all hand stitched out of the different pieces of used clothes, as this worn fabric is saturated with history of previous users.

Tartaruga Studio is based in Łódź - Polish Trash Pop Up Expo

The competition is on - you have to collect 2 business cards with the description of the artists and receive a great prize!

And today I am presenting the next artist:
Wiktoria Podolec

>>It is a shame to tread on the carpet, which requires 40 hours of work and 175 squats<<
Tartaruga Studio is based in Łódź and it's not a coincidence. The city was strongly connected with textile industry from the very beginning. With our activities we try to refer to those rich traditions. That's why we also conduct workshops for kids and adults. Weaving classes can help to know fabrics in practice.

Tartaruga means "a turtle". The turtle is slow but long-lived and unique. Exactly like our fabrics.

Marta Szotek's  project is using found elements. The workers of the factory write “złom” on scrap porcelain to distinguish trash from perfect products. I used the Ćmielów porcelain factory’s scrap that was destined to be smashed into little pieces and disposed of. All the elements have been found in rubbish containers, carefully selected out of thousands of pieces and hand polished. My choices were based on my appreciation of the beauty of how porcelain breaks in unusual ways. I put a gold on part of the pieces as I like the idea of combing such an expensive material with a trash. There are 2 sets created out of 9 different elements, each set is unique. The elements are not fixed into the plate, but separate, so the chef can play with them and create his own sculptural arrangements.
